Beyond the Open Mapping Theorem: local image problem and singular fibrations

Abstract. We prove an old conjecture by Huckleberry concerning the local openness of the image of (non-proper) holomorphic maps, and we explain the more general problem of the existence of the image as a set germ, with applications to the existence of local fibrations.

Topology of complex projective hypersurfaces

Abstract. I will overview old and new results which show how the presence of singularities affects the topology of complex projective hypersurfaces.

Real algebraic plane curves

Abstract. We will give some ideas on the classification of real algebraic plane curves and state some open problems. Times permitting we will also state some relationships with tropical geometry.
